Tutoring by Appointment — The Office of Academic Technology provides tutoring by appointment at no charge to University of Florida students.
Standing appointments are private tutoring sessions that happen on a recurring basis. Once approved, a student may schedule up to two weekly appointments for a variety of mathematics, science, business, and engineering courses. These appointments are up to 50 minutes in length and are granted upon qualification and availability. Click here for Standing Appointments (Private).
A Teaching Center learning strategist works individually with the student to assess his/her current study habits and attitudes. They then work together to develop strategies which will help him or her become a more effective and efficient learner. Click here for Study Skills/Learning Strategies (Private Appointments).
We work with students individually to improve their study skills, including time management, note-taking, and test preparation. Click here for Study Skills Help.
A volunteer, non-credit writing program is available to students who wish to improve their writing. Any classroom instructor may also refer students to this program. After students take a diagnostic test, an individual program is prepared for them. Each student works independently on these programs under the supervision of a lab instructor. A volunteer, non-credit reading program is available to UF students and staff seeking to improve reading speed and comprehension or to enhance vocabulary. In this program, students are tested, diagnosed individually, and receive both practice and instruction based on their specific needs. Instructors may also refer students for working with general or specific skill areas. Click here for Tutoring In Reading.
